Restorative Circles is a structured dialogue process for groups. In the broadest sense, restorative practices, including this one, assist in repairing harm, restoring security and reintegrating everyone in peaceful co-existence after any event that was troubling to those in the group. It's also part of a set of practices under the umbrella term of conflict resolution.
This practice, Restorative Circles, was developed in Brazil by Dominic Barter. The articles I've attached are written about Dominic or his work, mostly in the context of Brazil. However, this work has spread internationally and is a systematic approach that engages any system: families, courts, communities, neighborhoods, workplaces, organizations, etc. Our group, Restorative Communications Group, have studied with Dominic and are working on bringing this work into Sacramento, Grass Valley, Nevada City.
